How to impart values to kids ????? ( For moms !)

We all have heard the story about a hungry man begging for food. A wise man passing by takes him along & teaches him to fish so he could always be able to feed himself.

So we learnt about whats noble - give a man a fish or teach a man to fish.

It's about the value of a concept or principle or a skill.

Telling kids don't tell lies or make right choices ( is what we moms do all day!) does not get us anywhere...its like begging.

If only we could demonstrate them this & impart this value it will a great parenting job done....but how????? Any ideas!!!!!

We all have read that stories is a good way. I think it would be better to find examples from our own lives to share ?? Or ideally grab the first opportunity you get ( if you are lucky to recognise that) to demonstrate the value of virtues you want to impart Truthfulness, Kindness, empathy et all.
