Arjun's chariot

This is no ordinary chariot. It signifies the human being.

The chariot is the body
Arjuna is Atma - the Lord of the chariot
Krishna is the intellect , the charioteer

The 5 horses are the 5 gyan indriyas (5 senses) which can run in their own direction if not controlled.
The reins is the mind that guides the movements of the body through the usage of its senses.

The senses as extensions of the mind, they keep straying and need to be controlled. Horses are never stable, only the reins (the mind) in the hands of the charioteer (the intellect) can steer them in the right direction.

So if the 5 indriyas are in complete control of the mind, and the mind is in line with the intellect, then the self will move in the right direction.

The horses are white , denoting that this are pure, un influenced
